Motorcycle Accident near West Columbus Street Left Rider, Pedestrian Injured

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 2, 2023) – Tuesday night, a pedestrian crash on Chester Avenue left a rider and another person hospitalized.

Police responded to the incident on July 18th, at around 10:57 p.m., on the Chester Avenue overpass, north of West Columbus Street.

Upon arrival, the officers located the pedestrian suffering from moderate injuries and the motorcyclist with minor injuries.

Eventually, both patients were transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials also blocked the southbound lanes of Chester Avenue at Beardsley Avenue as crews cleared out the scene.

Based on the initial investigation, the motorcyclist hit the person while traveling southbound on Chester Avenue. Police pointed out that the pedestrian was crossing the overpass in an unmarked crosswalk. The Bakersfield Police Department is asking anyone with additional information about the crash to contact them at (661) 327-7111.
