A man was killed Thursday morning when the logging truck he was driving crashed into a pond in The Forks.

The driver was traveling on U.S. Route 201 about 7 a.m. when he veered off the road and into a pond, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.

He died at the scene.

Police haven’t released the driver’s identity, and crews were expected to remain at the scene into the night as part of the recovery and clean up, the Sentinel reported.

The Maine State Police said that Route 201 would experience intermittent shutdowns throughout the day.
