Mrs. Mary Lois West Phillips, age 91, of Brush Creek, TN passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Mrs. Phillips was born September 7, 1932 in River View, TX, a daughter of the late Jim M. West and Mary Martin West. She married Carl Raymond Phillips on June 3, 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2002. Mrs. Phillips was also preceded in death by eight siblings-brothers Buddy and Paul, sisters Myrtle West, Annie Robinson, Vivian Counts, Mildred McDonald, Rosa Pearce & Syble Peterman.

She earned her BA from Eastern New Mexico University. She also earned her Master of Library Science and Masters of Arts in Teaching from Vanderbilt University and the George Peabody College for Teaching. Mrs. Phillips worked as a librarian at the Green Hills and Downtown branches in Nashville for 20 years, beginning in 1972, until her retirement in 1992. She was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Lebanon, TN. Lois was traveler, quilter, avid reader and member of the Carthage Book Club.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by three children; Nathan (Ann Cameron) Phillips of Nashville, TN. Elizabeth (Steve Wisden) Phillips of Knoxville, TN. Ellen (Tim) Lancaster of Brush Creek, TN. Six grandchildren; Eleanor (Joel) Lopez, Annie Lancaster, Margaret (A.J. Smith) Phillips, Constantine Kokkoris, David Lancaster, and Alexandra Kokkoris.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 visitation at 10:30 AM and service at 11AM at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 1500 Hickory Ridge Road, Lebanon, TN 37087.

Donations in Memory of Mrs. Phillips may be made to the Gordonsville Public Library.
