Perhaps the rivalry between Texas Tech basketball and Texas can live on in a different fashion.

The Red Raiders announced Wednesday they will be competing in the 2024 Legends Classic on Nov. 21-22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Texas, Syracuse and Saint Joseph's are the other teams in the announced field.

This will be the third time Texas Tech has competed in the Legends Classic, also making appearances in 2008 and 2013. Matchups for the multi-team event will be announced at a later date.

Texas Tech and Syracuse have only played each other twice in their histories. Tech won the 1976 meeting in a game played at Denton while Syracuse had an 81-46 win in New York City in 2005. Both of these were neutral site games.

The Red Raiders last played Saint Joseph's in the 2004 NCAA Tournament in Buffalo, New York. This was also one of two meetings between the programs.

Though the two in-state rivals will be in separate conferences starting this summer, the Red Raiders and Longhorns could play each other again in Brooklyn. If that came to be, it would keep the teams' streak of playing each other at least once every year since 1958.
