Pool season isn’t over just yet. Ahead of harvest, conditions are starting to heat up for grapes in wine countries throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The fruit is beginning to mature, sweeten, and change color—a process known as verasion. And if you’re feeling the heat, too, why not imbibe with a leisurely pool day in wine country?

From the vine-striped hills of Healdsburg, California to the prolific vineyards of Tuscany, Italy here’s 10 beautiful swimming pools overlooking vineyards that are ideal for a late-summer swim.

Borgo San Vincenzo in Montepulciano, Italy

Soak under that famous Tuscan sun while in the cool pool at one of Tuscany’s newest luxury hotels. Borgo San Vincenzo’s 21 suites and studios overlook a landscape with rolling vineyards and cypress trees. The property is set in the Vino Nobile vineyards, and the hotel’s name honors St. Vincent, the patron saint of winemaking.

Hotel Mas d'en Bruno in Tarragona, Spain

The 65-foot long infinity pool at Hotel Mas d’en Bruno provides stunning views of the Southern Catalonian’s vine-laden terrain. An outdoor jacuzzi also looks out at the sprawling vineyards, and the Pool Bar at the Bistro serves vino to accompany your perfect pool day underneath the terracotta-colored pool umbrellas.

Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards in Bristol, Virginia

Gaze out at 13 lush acres of vineyards from the infinity-edge pool at The Nicewater Farm & Vineyards. Heated in the winter, the pool stays open year-round. Cabanas have plush seating as well as mini-fridges to keep wine chilled. The pool deck is also furnished with a poolside firepit that overlooks the vineyards.

The Allison Inn & Spa

Swim year-round in the pool at The Allison Inn & Spa, which is located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Sliding glass, accordion-style doors open to the property's vineyards. The Allison grows pinot noir and pinot gris right on property, much of the grapes provided to the hotel's own brand of wine called Austin Knoll that’s made in collaboration with a local winery.

Son Bunyola Hotel & Villas in Mallorca, Spain

Sir Richard Branson considers his just-opened property, the Son Bunyola Hotel & Villas, to be his “love letter to the Balearic Islands.” The 26-room property features a pool overlooking the vineyards where the hotel is growing Malvasia wine, the same variety that was produced on the estate in the 1200s.

Tenuta di Murlo’s Villa Castiglione Ugolino in Umbria, Italy

Medieval farmhouses have been beautifully restored into villas that dot the 18,000-acre, family-owned Tenuta di Murlo. Each of the villas have their own private pools, but the very best one is Castiglione Ugolino. It’s open year-round and includes far-reaching views of the olive trees and vineyards. The castle is propped on a hill over the Tiber Valley.

Casali di Casole, Timbers Tuscany

Casali di Casole is a sprawling 4,200-acre estate in the Italian countryside. The heated glass-tiled infinity pool enjoys an idyllic setting overlooking the estate’s vineyard.

Tenuta di Artimino, The Melia Collection in Carmignano, Italy

Tenuta di Artimino, a part of the Melia Collection came about after a fastidious restoration that preserved the fireplaces, wooden beams, handcrafted terracotta floors, and local sandstone that defines this 17th-century building once owned by the Medici family. The pool provides commanding views of the 170-acres of vineyards where noble Cabernet vines are believed to have been brought to the area by Caterina de' Medici.

Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, California

Carmel Valley, California gets 300 days of sunshine (read: plenty of pool days!) The in-ground pool at Holman Ranch was Carmel Valley’s first ever, and it was refurbished in 2021. Break up pool days with wine tastings in the property’s wine wine caves and rounds of bocce.
