West Jersey Football League president John Emel admitted putting together this year’s Battle at the Beach was the most challenging of the four installments of the summer showcase.
First there was the venue issue. With the season not starting until Labor Day weekend - instead of the week before - the WJFL couldn’t use the iconic Ocean City High School field for the entire three-day event because of scheduling conflicts.
