Jean P. Barr OBITUARY

Jean P. (Bend) Barr passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 1, 2024. She was born on March 25, 1933 in Sandwich, Illinois, daughter of the late Dale Bend and Mary Souder.

She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

Jean was an elementary school educator and retired from West Aurora School District #129. She loved music, crocheting, gardening, farming, camping and bike riding and could always be found with a little doggie on her lap.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Patricia (the late Dana P.) Austin of Sugar Grove, Teresa (Michael) Konen of Sugar Grove, Barbara (Ronald) Schoo of Minnesota, Margaret (Terry) Galles of Sugar Grove and Kelly (Donald) Murphy of Massachusetts as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Barr; her son, Edward T. Barr and siblings, Richard Bend, Carole Jordal and Phyllis Christensen.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when a Rosary will be recited followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 8S055 Dugan Rd., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeKalb, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Fox Vally Music Consortium, Fox Valley El Sistema Music Program.
