Retirement Benefit Application: Ms. ** called on time and greeted me professionally. She spoke at a normal pace and very clearly. Her interview was smooth and easy to follow. I had spent a few hours struggling with the online application (at an earlier date) and surely appreciated her assistance completing it over the phone. Thank you Ms. ** for the additional instructions regarding what to expect with SSA communications, deposit details, and how to prep for Medicare at 65.

My service rep was great and assistance me and my son with all question and helped him complete process but the security guard short guy ** was very rude. Felt like he owned the building. I said nothing while he was rude. Show him my paper work and that we had an appointment and let him mark him his point about items coming he but he was very disrespectful and didn’t care I had my son right there with me. Just rude. The other guard very nice, walked me in and he looked dumb and stupid being I wasn’t rude to him at all and I think everyone. As there looked at him the same. Again my service was great but he needs to be replaced.

It took me more than two hours or three before I could get an answer about my benefits being terminated. I thought l could never get the help I needed from the SSI agents, until I spoke to a person by the name of Mrs. **. Thanks to her she helped me resolve my troubling and stressful issue. I think she deserves a lot more recognition as far as helping, people with disabilities like myself.... Thank you Mrs. **. We need more people like you in this planet..Thank you so much for helping me...God bless.

Ms. ** was very patient and responsive regarding a very irritating issue/situation. It took 2 days and over 5 hours but it appears we finally got somewhere. As far as SSI is concerned, if they returned calls it would make things much better.

Applied for benefits online on July 19,2023 and got an email that if we needed any information we will call you. My case was assigned to some Dunlap and I was provided with her extension number. Surprised to receive an email on July 26 "we have not received the info which was requested on July 19". Sent all original documents through priority mail which delivered to SSA next day. On August 27, got info that we have rejected your case because you have not provided required documents. Called Dunlap at least 100 times who never answered phone calls and the voice messages.

Visited 5 times the Manassas office and could not see Dunlap. Submitted appeal online with no result. Met District Manager Colon who promised solution within 48 hours. Kept calling her for 2 weeks with no luck to speak to her and she never answered voice messages left on her extension number. One lucky day in December 2023, called 800 number and got connected to an angle-like associate who solved the issue on phone within 15-minutes. Wondering why those 2 ladies (Dunlap and Colon) gave me hard time for almost 6 months.

I called the social security office and got the message that my phone wait time is one hour 20 minutes. Can't believe what I heard! I gave up on contacting the office. I can not believe that this is what the agent does to people.

With my new experiences with the Social Security Department, make sure you don't plan a retirement date with your employer until you receive a benefits letter unless you're planning on using your retirement savings to pay for your existence or you have no issues with cash. This government agency is supposed to take care of a highly important part of a person's life. During a previous call (one of many), I received information in error. The agent told me to delete my login.gov account that I to create because my standard account no longer worked. He said he would reset my standard SSI account, and could access the standard in 24 hours. This was not correct. He also told me of my payment date, today I was told this was incorrect.

I created a new login.gov account today. The only way to finish the account is to wait 2-3 more weeks for an activation code to be mailed. The SS referenced 2-4 week review period, don't count on this. Waiting to talk to someone (1 hour or way more), you'll find out they are 1 month behind. And SSI won't do anything to help until 60 days have passed, or 8 weeks. I'm looking at 12 weeks or more before I receive benefits. I already had to pull retirement savings to pay the mortgage for March. And my medical/dental insurance runs out in 2 days.

I know SS has a lot to do. But this is one government entity that needs to be held accountable for estimates and lies that mislead the customers they are suppose to serve. In my 40+ years of customer service, if I handled my customers in the way I am being handled, I would have been disciplined or fired. After talking to many people, It is now difficult for me to know if what I was told is correct, a guess, or a lie. Not a good feeling to have about something that is highly important to me and obviously to many others.

I waited for over an hour for someone to pick up the phone. Foreign accent was difficult to understand. All I wanted was to report a change of address. The representative was very rude to me, and seemed to enjoy the power of intimidating me. It was a very negative experience.

Waiting over one hour on the phone. Why don't they have an automatic callback system? When I look up who is the head of social security, it is someone who supposedly has technological expertise. I cannot make or receive calls because I am holding, holding, holding.

I have been trying to get my Social Security benefits due to me related to my husband’s death for over 7 months. Three letters with appropriate forms. Two trips to SSA in my area. I give up! It’s not worth my sanity.
