One Pronounced Dead after DUI Pedestrian Accident near 43rd Avenue Southeast

PUYALLUP, WA (March 4, 2024)Kyle Sandstrom was arrested Tuesday morning after a fatal pedestrian collision on South Meridian Street and 43rd Avenue Southeast. The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m., on February 20th.

According to reports, Sandstrom struck a pedestrian from behind while driving a pickup truck. Additionally, the pickup truck collided with a Walgreens. Upon arrival, first responders found a man down on the road.

Despite efforts to save his life, medics declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed the victim’s identity.

After initial procedures, law enforcement arrested 41-year-old Sandstrom for DUI and vehicular homicide, subsequently placing him in the Pierce County Jail with a bail set at $300,000.

Currently, an ongoing investigation is in progress to gather more information. Additional details will be provided once they become available.
