Sunday is National Cheesesteak Day and Delco Steaks of Broomall celebrated with its annual Cheesesteak Bowl at Marple Public House.
Dan Kennedy of West Decatur, Pa., which is about an hour northwest of State College, devoured 7½ 1–foot, 1–pound Delco Steaks in 10 minutes to capture the professional round title for the fourth consecutive year.
Rod McGee, of Bronx, New York, finished three Delco Steaks in 10 minutes to win the amateur round.
There were more than 40 contestants total. The one-foot cheesesteak features a 10 ounce of ribeye and Cooper sharp cheese on a seeded Carangi roll. Delco Steaks awards a championship belt and cash prizes to the winner and will donate a portion of the proceeds to the HEADstrong Foundation.
Delco Steaks, 2567 West Chester Pike, features cheesesteaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, chicken nuggets, milkshakes, and hoagies. Delco Steaks is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
