A Gila River police officer was injured in a rollover crash near 63rd Avenue and Baseline Road on Wednesday, officials said.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to two-vehicle crash at the intersection, which is just off Loop 202, in Laveen at about 2:20 a.m.

Deputies found a Gila River Police Department vehicle had been involved in the crash and was upside down, MCSO said. The officer was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle fled the area on foot but were later detained by Phoenix police, MCSO said. Officials believe alcohol impairment was a factor in the crash.

MCSO said the department's vehicular crimes unit was investigating the crash.
