‘The Traitors’ Season 2 Is 11 Episodes of Epic Celebrity Scheming
WHILE MOST PEOPLE by now have at least one streaming service, it's likely Netflix or Hulu or Disney+. Some of the newcomers to the streaming wars, like Peacock or Paramount+, are still finding their footing and attempting to bring in audiences with original content or entice with the cable or cinematic offerings of their parent companies.
2023, however, was a major year for Peacock. Before the streaming service really took off, it wasn't known for much more than having the Olympics and The Office available to stream in the same place. After the success of various original shows, however, like Poker Face, Bupkis, Mrs. Davis, and Based on a True Story, Peacock has shown it's not just a place to stream the best NBC classics, but a potential home for fun and unexpected comedies.
Another genre the platform has dove headfirst into is reality competition series. While Netflix has become well-known for Love Is Blind, Squid Game: The Challenge, and even rebooting The Mole, Peacock has now found an audience with The Traitors.
Created concurrently with a British version of the series, The Traitors Season 1 took a large cast–half TV celebs and half regular people–and put them in a competition similar to the party game known as "Mafia." Three of the cast are chosen as secret "traitors," who meet together in the dead of night to decide who to remove from the game. The regular players, the non-traitors, must figure out who the traitors are and stop them from sabotaging their game.
While the first season of the US The Traitors had promise, the show had room for improvement. But in Season 2, Peacock is taking notes from the British version of the show, and this time featuring an all-celebrity cast, filled with Real Housewives, Survivor contestants, and more.
