A little girl lost her life after being fatally struck by an Uber driver who had just dropped her family home.

On Sunday, three adults and a 1-year-old girl were dropped off at an apartment complex in Aldine, Tex., according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. A neighbor’s home surveillance camera caught footage of the silver Volkswagen SUV pulling into the parking lot. A woman in pink pajamas and two children walked to the sidewalk.

Trailing behind them was the toddler who was seen walking closely in front grill of the vehicle.

In another clip, the same vehicle is seen parked a few feet ahead from its original position. The driver opened the car door and stepped out to complete chaos.

“When the Uber driver saw the female adult clear at a couple of feet, he began driving forward to turn around, accidentally rolling over the child,” said Lt. K. Benoit to NBC affiliate Click2Houston.

A child is seen running from the car into the apartment and returning to the parking lot with more kids and the adult woman, who all charged at the driver upon seeing the toddler on the ground.

The family tried rescuing the girl and driving her to the hospital. They flagged down an emergency vehicle nearby, which then took the girl to the hospital where she later died.

In the moments after the child was run over, family members opened the SUV’s doors and assaulted the driver.

“He’s in serious condition. You know, non-life threatening, but serious,” Benoit said.

The driver is being treated for his injuries.

The neighbor, who’s home camera caught the ordeal, told reporters she heard the commotion outside only to step onto the porch and witness a horror scene.

I just [saw] blood and a baby laying on the ground. It was just so traumatic, because I was just thinking about my baby, you know, my son or anybody else’s kids,” said Simya Washington to Click2Houston.

Benoit said the investigation is still ongoing but no charges have been filed at this time. He said they are “different ways” charges could be pursued. The driver was identified as Muhammad Khan, the report says.
