Aston Villa player attracted by return to youth club – Summer exit seen as nailed on

On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport stated Aston Villa forward Nicolò Zaniolo’s agent had held a meeting with former Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone, who then unexpectedly passed away last week.

This report surfaced a day after the former AS Roma man talked about his desire to return to Italy in the summer.

Thursday’s Corriere dello Sport provides fresh updates on the Aston Villa man’s stance on the possibility of joining Fiorentina.

The Italy international spent six years at the Serie A side’s academy between 2010 and 2016, and a move back to his old club ‘attracts him’.

It’s said the Aston Villa player could indeed return to his old club, where there’s currently a new environment. This could be a an attraction and play an important role in the 24-year-old, his family and his entourage deciding to pick Fiorentina.

Last summer, Zaniolo joined Unai Emery’s side from Galatasaray on loan with a conditional obligation. The attacker has seen his game time restricted this year and asked for more minutes at Villa Park.

Either way, Corriere state the Italian’s future is away from Aston Villa and he’ll return to the Turkish club in the summer, who will then make a decision on the next movements.

A move back to Italy is a priority for Zaniolo and the newspaper states Fiorentina ‘could quickly scale those thoughts’.
