Barbara Jean Teason OBITUARY

Barbara Jean Teason, age 86, of Palos Park passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Palos Northwestern Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born May 11, 1937 to adoring parents LaVerne and Earl Teason. Family preceding in death are her parents and grandparents Irene and Frank Wohn. She is survived by her sister Yvonne Avgerinos, nephew Gerald Avgerinos, niece Michelle (Dale) Tokarz, niece Gayle Johnston and nephew Brian (Lindsey) Johnston, with cousins the Art Adams family and John O’Conner family. Barbara was a graduate from Palos District #118 in 1953, and Carl Sandburg High School in 1957. She retired from St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island.

Of special note, Barbara was the Sandburg High School real escort for the real poet Carl Sandburg at the school dedication. Also, the Cook County Forest Preserves has a Teason Woods named after her family.

Barbara appreciated the care she received from the Cook County Guardian Team, Home Instead Support Staff, Carmalita Whisenton, Palos Park Police Department (Chief Joseph Miller), and Palos Fire Department with best friends Judi and Art Colby.

Family and friends will gather Friday, March 15, from 9:30-11:30 am at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills.. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park.
