Crews battled two small fires in Desert Hot Springs

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of two fires that broke out Saturday evening in Desert Hot Springs.

The first was a 20 by 20 foot mulch fire, located off Two Bunch Palms Trail East of Verbena Drive shortly after 6 p.m.

Investigators say from there, a second fire also broke out on Two Bunch Palms Trail to the West of Verbena after 8:30 p.m.

That fire burned a quarter of an acre.

Cal Fire says the second fire may have been wind driven from the other fire

Both fires are out and neither threatened any structures.
