Officials investigating Gila Bend plane crash that killed 1, injured another

One person died and another was hospitalized following a plane crash Sunday morning at Gila Bend Municipal Airport.

A spokesperson from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said emergency crews were called at about 9:50 a.m. to a crash near state Route 85 and Maricopa Road.

The injured person was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that the agency opened an investigation into the crash.
