PA Water planning to install new public well in Susquehanna County

DIMMOCK, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania American Water is planning to install a new public well to supply water to residents in Dimock, Susquehanna County.

It will be funded by a plea agreement negotiated between the Office of the Attorney General under then-Attorney General Shapiro and Coterra Energy, formerly known as Cabot Oil and Gas.

During a grand jury investigation, it was determined drilling gas wells was responsible for methane in water supplies for residents in Dimock.

In 2022, Coterra Energy agreed to pay more than $16,000,000 to build a new public water system in that part of Susquehanna County.

Pennsylvania American Water has two potential well sites and hopes to begin construction in 2026.
