The NFL Scouting Combine is taking place in Indianapolis this week, and the Patriots have reportedly interviewed several top draft prospects there.

New England is “heavily leaning” towards taking a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, The Athletic reported Tuesday.

The Patriots have met with quarterbacks Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix according to Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald. Kyed also said that the Patriots are planning to meet with Caleb Williams.

MassLive’s Mark Daniels reports that the Patriots also met with Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Daniels wrote that the Patriots are planning to draft a quarterback at No. 3, sign a veteran quarterback, and send Mac Jones elsewhere this offseason.

Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2022, is often mentioned as the favorite to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick.

Should the Bears take Williams No. 1, the Patriots could still end up with Maye or Daniels. The Commanders have the No. 2 pick, and there hasn’t been much of a consensus on which direction they might go in.

The Patriots had reigning Heisman winner Daniels at the top of their draft board when Bill Belichick was the coach, according to NFL Media’s Bridget Condon. Maye, who was ACC offensive player of the year in 2022, has long been considered a potential top-3 pick.

The Patriots have needs across the board on offense. Harrison could be a top option at receiver should the Patriots choose to do in a direction other than quarterback. McCarthy and Nix could be available later in the draft if the Patriots choose to pass on a quarterback at No. 3.
