Kearny 18-year-old is charged with sexually assaulting girl, 13

An 18-year-old man from Kearny sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl last summer in the backyard of a Harrison home after meeting the girl through social media, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

Angel Aparicio De La Cruz was arrested Wednesday by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for an incident on July 11. He was charged with second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

He is currently being detained at the Hudson County jail, pending his first court appearance.

Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the Harrison and Kearny police departments. Anyone wishing to report a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.
