5-Year-Old Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Budlong Avenue

GARDENA, CA (February 14, 2024)Patrick Chacon died early Sunday morning in a pedestrian crash on Marine and Budlong Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Authorities report that the operator of an eastbound vehicle made a northward turn onto Budlong, colliding with two pedestrians in the crosswalk. Following the incident, the driver left the scene without offering assistance or notifying law enforcement.

Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced 5-year-old Chacon deceased on scene. Simultaneously, emergency crews transported his grandmother to a nearby hospital for the treatment of severe injuries.

To facilitate cleanup and preliminary duties, emergency crews temporarily closed off the surrounding area.

Presently, law enforcement is actively seeking the individual believed to be operating a mid-sized, dark-colored SUV involved in the incidents. Witnesses to both accidents are urged to communicate with investigators at (310) 217-6189.
