PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — When it comes to the best place to have a happy and healthy four-legged friend, you need look no further than the Pacific Northwest, according to a new report.

The report by USA Today looked at important parts of a dog’s life including the number of vets, proximity to dog parks, walkability and the number of cooler days and they found that Seattle and Portland topped the list.

According to the report, Seattle has 59 vets per every 100,000 residents while Portland has 47.

It was also found that 99% of Seattle residents live within a 10-minute walk of a dog park while in Portland only 90% do.

However, there were a few cases where Portland beat the Emerald City, such as having more dog parks per 100,000 residents and more cooling degree days per NOAA data, according to the report.

Overall, while Seattle scored 100 on the list, Portland scored 98, narrowly beating San Francisco which scored a 97.
