Despite being praised by the likes of Dolly Parton and The Dixie Chicks, not all country artists are welcoming Beyoncé into the space with open arms.

Earlier this month, country-rock singer HARDY threw some shade at Bey. After performing at this year’s Houston Rodeo, he captioned his recap, “Didn’t see Beyoncé at the rodeo.”

The BeyHive wasted no time in schooling him on her past performances at the Rodeo including 2001’s performance with Destiny’s Child as well as solo sets in 2004 and 2007.

Still, the post and subsequent infantile caption garnered reactions from those siding with him and those defending her.

One person wrote, “That’s because she been there done that! jokes on you!” Another person shaded HARDY right back, commenting, “Haven’t seen you win any Grammys.”

Fellow country singer Mark Burke chimed in, writing, “Paint him red and black & call him jumper cables cause he’s startin s**t.” Meanwhile, others called for peace.

“I will never understand any person, especially artists and creative minds having to tear down other people being creative and making their own art to promote themself. It is just such an odd concept to me. Like bro go out. Make your music. Kill it. And let it speak for itself. Don’t like it, don’t like them. Rise above and do your thing,” they wrote.

Another stated, “As much as I respect Hardy as a man and an artist this wasn’t the right thing to say all things considered….you can’t make music that crosses over in between genres and then throw shade at another artist who’s doing the same……in their hometown no less. This whole what’s country bulls**t is absolutely absurd!!!”

Not only did HARDY try to attack Bey, but we also know that the jab towards her rollout is ill-informed, because she’s always 10 steps ahead. COWBOY CARTER is set for release on Mar. 29, but the Houston native has already stated that it’s not a country album, but a “Beyoncé album.”
