Richard F. Hutchings OBITUARY

Richard F. “Hutch” Hutchings, 65, of Canton, beloved husband of Maureen Halloran-Hutchings, died Friday, February 23, 2024 at his home. He was born January 17, 1959 in Torrington, son of the late Richard E. and Ruth (Kovacs) Hutchings and had been a lifelong resident of Canton. He was a graduate of University of Hartford having received his Masters Degree in Public Administration as well as a B.S. Health Science along with being a Registered Nurse and a Paramedic. He was a veteran Desert Storm having served in the US Army Reserve. He started his nursing career for 20 years at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Later, he became a RN/Assistant Manager of the Emergency Department at Uconn Medical Center for almost two decades. He was a lifelong member and retired Chief of the Canton Volunteer Fire/EMS Department. Also lifelong member of Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department Inc, and Canton Volunteer Fire Co Inc. Hutch was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. His favorite past time was fly fishing on the Farmington River.

In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, he is survived by his beloved niece, Tiffany Frenette and her fiancé Tom Kostka, his cherished nephew Jason Ronan of Burlington, his cousin Patrick Foley and wife Lori of Canaan, his sister, Virginia Messler and husband Mark and their children Ashley and Connor as well as his dear friends the Lockwood family and the Thralls family, who were very much loved. He was predeceased by his sister, Judy Hutchings.

Calling hours will be held at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Friday, March 1 st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2nd at Village Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Collinsville.
