Two people that were found dead at a Milford residence on Wednesday died by suicide, according to state officials.

Deputies went to a County Road residence about 5 p.m. Wednesday to conduct a well-being check, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. When they arrived, two people were found deceased at the residence.

Officials initially suspected the deaths were due to foul play. An investigation and autopsies concluded by the state medical examiner’s office concluded both people died of self-inflicted wounds.

Due to the manner of death, the identities of the deceased will not be released to the public.
