McCreary County assistant principal resigns amid scandal

Mar. 7—STEARNS, Ky. — A now former McCreary Central High School Assistant Principal has resigned amid news of a state investigation.

Aaron Anderson resigned from his position on February 27, according to what McCreary Schools Superintendent Brian Crawford told media.

Formerly assistant superintendent at McCreary County Schools, Anderson had previously been in ensnared in scandal in 2017 after he was found to have had a sexual encounter with an adult on a school bus during an elementary basketball tournament.

The Whitley County native was reprimanded by the Educational Professional Standards Board and received a suspension of his teaching certificate for several months in 2017. He was also required to attend ethics training, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Now, he faces an investigation from Kentucky State Police and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services' Department of Community Based Services, which Crawford told media investigates abuse complaints.
