Former Patriot arrested on DUI charge in Rhode Island

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler was arrested by North Providence police on DUI charges earlier this month.

According to a police report obtained by ABC6 News, Butler was arrested on Mineral Spring Avenue on March 16, just after 3:30 a.m.

The officer who arrested Butler writes in his report that Butler was stopped and blocking a lane of traffic.

The officer continues describing a “strong odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from Butler’s breath, and further observed that Butler had “extremely slurred and delayed speech along with severely bloodshot watery eyes.”

According to the police report, Butler refused to take any sobriety tests at the scene.

Butler was given a summons to appear in court on March 28 and 29.
