Austin students collab with Hollywood director on ‘Spy Kids’ music video project
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Some Austin students recently got to collaborate with a Hollywood director known for his work on the movie “Spy Kids,” which was also filmed mostly in Austin.
Robert Rodriguez collaborated with classical guitar students at McCallum High School on an audio recording and music video for the Spy Kids film. Rodriguez donated the music, his time and a film crew during the collaboration process.
He also shared the musical arrangement with Austin Classical Guitar, which added it to their guitar curriculum.
The filmmaker said he was inspired by the nonprofit’s mission to provide instruments and free lessons to students at Title 1 schools and juvenile justice centers.
The video was taken late last year, but AISD just shared it this week.
