Two Las Vegas Women Killed in Memorial Day Accident near Needles

NEEDLES, CA (June 3, 2022) – Wittney Beckstead, and Makelika Schnose were killed Monday afternoon, in a car crash on Interstate 40.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m., near Needles, about 110 miles south of Las Vegas. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Investigators said Beckstead and Schnose were in the process of switching lanes while traveling eastbound on I-40. However, Beckstead’s Jeep struck another vehicle, causing both vehicles to lose control.

Afterwards, Beckstead’s vehicle rolled multiple times and ejected her passenger, Schnose, leaving both occupants with fatal injuries.

Per reports, Beckstead died at the scene while Schnose succumbed to her injuries at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. In addition, the driver from the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Officers say both of the deceased victims were not wearing their seat belt at the time. However, it is not know whether or not drugs or alcohol were involved.
