Austin Preparatory School went on lockdown Thursday after an “unknown individual was on campus,” according to Reading police.
At around 11:30 a.m., the school learned of the individual and issued a shelter-in-place order that asked students to remain in their classrooms, police said in a statement.
About 15 minutes later, Reading police arrived at the campus and placed the school on lockdown. Following a search of the school building and grounds, which included “all available on-duty police personnel,” police said there was no danger to the school.
The person in question was an Austin Prep School student, police said. At 12:11 p.m., the lockdown was lifted.
Reading Police School Resource Officers will be on campus for the rest of the day, police said.
