AUSTIN (KXAN) – The City of Bee Cave selected Julie Oakley as the new city manager, the City of Bee Cave announced Tuesday. She is the first female city manager for Bee Cave.

Previously, Oakley worked with the City of Lakeway for 12 years and served as the city manager from 2019-2022, the city said in a news release. Additionally, she served in other leadership roles, including the assistant city manager and director of finance, the release said.

“We are thrilled Julie is joining the City of Bee Cave,” Bee Cave Mayor Kara King said in the release. “She has all the experience and relationships we could ask for; she knows and loves this region and is a trusted and very well-respected city leader. The city will benefit so much from her leadership and perspective.”

Clint Garza, who was the Bee Cave city manager before, decided to leave the leadership role for a private sector position. He served for five and a half years. Oakley worked alongside Garza during their shared times as city managers, according to the city.

“If I wrote a screenplay, this is exactly as I would have written it,” Garza said in the release. “Julie is incredibly capable, and I feel so happy knowing all that we have worked on in Bee Cave will continue moving forward under her leadership.”

After working for the City of Lakeway, Oakley worked for accounting organization KPMG in manager advisory, as well as state and local government solutions, the release said.

“I have always loved Bee Cave and I’m excited to continue making it a wonderful place to live and visit,” Oakley said. “I’m ready to dive in and keep the city moving forward with all of its goals.”

Oakley’s first day as city manager will be April 1.
