Newspaper Headlines: NLC kicks as 30 states yet to pay N35k wage award

Reports on the lifting of sanctions imposed on Niger Republic by the federal government, permeate the front pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed anger over the failure of over 30 states to pay the wage award as agreed by the federal government and organised labour. The newspaper says the federal government has filed a charge, bordering on terrorism, against Bello Bodejo, the president of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.

The Guardian reports that the rising cost of renal care is beyond many Nigerians battling kidney-related ailments. The newspaper says President Bola Tinubu has warned that on no account should ransom be paid to kidnappers.

Daily Trust reports that Tinubu has ordered that Nigeria’s air and land borders with Niger Republic be reopened. The newspaper says Nigerians have criticised the office of the accountant-general of the federation and the state commissioners of finance over a workshop on public financial management in London, United Kingdom.

THISDAY reports that Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), announced the allocation of 2.15 million bags of fertiliser, worth over N100 billion, to the federal ministry of agriculture and food security for disbursement to farmers.
