These Travel Sales Will Help You Plan The Perfect Trip In 2023

Following

Attention anyone who’s made it their New Year’s resolution to travel more in 2023: If you’ve been waiting for a sign to plan a trip and hit the road, this is it. Here’s a handy list of travel sales going on this month to help kick-start your year of big adventures, whether you’re into scenic train rides, cheaper flights to Europe, luxury cruises or guided group tours.

Amtrak

Now through Jan. 20, 2023, you can save $200 on Amtrak’s USA Rail Pass, which, for $299, lets you book 10 segments over a period of 30 days and gives you the freedom to plan your own route, whether its an epic cross-country rail adventure or a few shorter trips closer to home. There are a few important things to note: For starters, the pass is only valid for 120 days once you buy it and you’ll have 30 days to complete your 10 segments once you start using it, so make sure you’ve got a plan. You’ll also need to ride in coach class the entire time (read: upgrades to business class or sleeper cars aren’t allowed), certain routes aren’t included and you’ll have to reserve Saver or Value tickets ahead of time, among others. But if you’re interested in giving slow travel a try and embarking on some of the most beautiful train rides in the country, go for it.

Icelandair

Make your next trip to Europe more affordable by booking your ticket now through Jan. 18, 2023, and traveling between Feb. 1 and May 31, 2023. Note that while this Icelandair sale only works if you’re departing from certain cities—Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Seattle and Washington, D.C.—you can still use it to save on round-trip flights (via one stop in Reykjavik, Iceland) to a number of international locales such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Oslo, Paris and Tel Aviv. You’ll also have the option to fly nonstop to Reykjavik or if you’ve got more time to play with, plan a stopover in Iceland on your way to or from your final destination, which lets you have two trips in one for around the same price as your regular flight.

Contiki, Trafalgar, Brendan Vacations, Insight Vacations and Costsaver

Travelers between the ages of 18 and 35 can save up to 25 percent on nearly 50 tour packages now through Jan. 31, 2023, as part of Contiki’s Big Social Travel Sale, giving you the chance to see the world with a group of like-minded young people. Popular tours include a 13-day trip to Japan and a 22-day jaunt through Italy, though shorter trips to nearly every continent are also available. Contiki’s sister companies Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Brendan Vacations and Costsaver are also offering sales this month, letting travelers of any age save 15 percent on guided tours worldwide when you book by Feb. 16, 2023 (for Insight Vacations and Brendan Vacations, you must travel between Apr. 1 and Oct. 15, 2023).

G Adventures

If you’ve got any once-in-a-lifetime trips to tick off your bucket list—visiting the pyramids in Egypt or the souks in Morocco, seeing Machu Picchu or the Galápagos Islands in person or going on an African safari or an epic trip to Antarctica, just to name a few—you can save up to 25 percent when you book by Jan. 31, 2023. Read the fine print to see when you’ll need to travel by, as some trips require departing by June 30, 2023, while others are good for travel between July 1 and Dec. 15, 2023, or for some expeditions, from late-2023 through early 2024.

Celebrity Cruises

Cruise lovers can take advantage of special deals during Celebrity Cruises’ semi-annual sale, happening now through Mar. 1, 2023, including 75 percent off the second guest’s fare. Depending on the length of the cruise, you’ll also have access to additional savings of up to $800 per stateroom and up to $800 worth of onboard statement credits to use on the ship. Deals are valid on most sailings now through Apr. 30, 2023, whether you’re sailing through the Caribbean or Mediterranean, or beyond to Mexico, Asia or Alaska.
