Auburn basketball eligibility tracker: Who can return to the Tigers for another season?

SPOKANE, Wash. — Auburn basketball looked to be peaking at the right time heading into March Madness.

That quickly came to a halt when the No. 4 Tigers were upset by No. 13 Yale in the Round of 64 on Friday. It puts a sour end to coach Bruce Pearl's 10th season at Auburn, which featured an SEC Tournament championship and the fourth-most wins in program history (27).

The Tigers, like every team in the country, will experience change this offseason. There are already two guaranteed additions: Five-star guard Tahaad Pettiford and four-star wing Jahki Howard.

Here's a breakdown of Auburn's current roster heading into the offseason, including which scholarship players still have eligibility to use to return to the Plains for another season:

Auburn basketball players out of eligibility

Name (Eligibility remaining)

• Jaylin Williams (0): The fifth-year forward played in his final collegiate game Friday. He finishes his career as Auburn's all-time winningest player
• Lior Berman (0): A former walk-on who earned a scholarship ahead of the 2023-24 season, Berman saw his season come to an abrupt end with an ACL injury against Mississippi State on March 2.

Tigers who can return in 2024-25

• Chad Baker-Mazara (1): A JUCO transfer who quickly become a fan favorite, Baker-Mazara averaged 10 points in his first season at Auburn.
• Johni Broome (1): Broome has another year of eligibility to use, but he nearly left for the NBA Draft last offseason. After turning in an impressive 2023-24 campaign, he'll have a shot to turn pro.
• Dylan Cardwell (1): Cardwell, along with Moore, will enter his fourth campaign at Auburn if he comes back next season. He's been the backup center for the last four years.
• Chaney Johnson (1): Johnson had a midyear leap in his first season at Auburn; he averaged 3.7 points through the regular season's first 23 games before averaging 7.8 over the final eight games heading into the NCAA Tournament.
• KD Johnson (1): Johnson has spent the last three seasons at Auburn after playing his freshman year at Georgia. He's one of the many players who have an extra year of eligibility to use due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Denver Jones (1): The first year of high-major basketball saw Jones make 41.8% of his 3-pointers. He also proved to be one of Auburn's best perimeter defenders.
• Chris Moore (1): Moore will be one of the longest tenured Tigers if he returns next season. He's started 42 games over the last two seasons.
• Addarin Scott (1): Another JUCO transfer in his first year with the Tigers, Scott played in 21 minutes across 15 games this season.
• Carter Sobera (1): Similar to Berman, Sobera started as a walk-on before he was put on scholarship.
• Tre Donaldson (2): Donaldson just wrapped up his true sophomore season. He's been predominantly used as the backup over the last two years, though he started 10 games in 2023-24.
• Aden Holloway (3): A former five-star recruit in the Class of 2023, Holloway struggled as a freshman in certain areas — he shot 30.2% from deep — but shined in others, finishing with an assist-to-turnover ration of 3.03.
