THOMASTON — Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ division, Thomaston Light, starts off the new year strong after conducting their first auction of the year – Retro Chic.

Making headlines around the auction were four lots – a fabulous slip decorated mocha ware pitcher with beautiful bands of green, ochre, and dark brown that went for $1,000; a 37-piece set of Furnivals “Quail, Brown” China delicately decorated with small families of quails that went for $1,063; and a group of 16 Native American stone charms with a scoop and hatband that went for $1,250.

However, it was lot 4204, an electric table lamp with font base that turned out to be the showstopper. The lamp, originally designed as a kerosene lantern but converted to electric, went for $1,875. The lamp fits perfectly into an art pottery base to turn a favorite decorative piece into a stylish light source!
