British people are rushing to stock up on survival essentials in case of nuclear armageddon, an expert has revealed.

Leigh Price, who owns a prepper store called The Bug Out in Bullith Wells, Powys, said people are signing up to survival courses, buying long-term food supplies, and water filters in preparation.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Leigh said sales have spiked because of anxiety about the war.

Leigh served in the army between 1991 and 1996 and opened his store during the pandemic.

His store sells everything from army outfits to camping equipment and first aid kits.

Leigh told Metro about some of the most popular items he is selling.

He said: ‘People are stocking up on freeze dried food which can be stored for 25+ years.

‘Not only are you protecting yourself and family against possible food shortages but also investing your money into an item that is going to go up in value.

‘People are also investing in water filters for the home, so if there was a power outage or a problem with the water supply you can filter any water into clean safe drinking water.

‘The other items include solar generators and power stations.’

Leigh previously told Metro about how prepping is like an ‘insurance policy’ and gave some helpful tips about survival.

It comes after the Doomsday Clock remained at 90 seconds from midnight which is the closest we has ever been from human annihilation and the world was warned to ‘pay attention’.

The threat of nuclear catastrophe has also ‘never been so great’ after Russia predicted ‘new rivers of blood will flow’ after building the world’s largest missile.

North Korea is also strengthening its nuclear arsenal, with leader Kim Jong-un ordering his military to destroy the US and South Korea.
