SXSW 2024: Two massive, free Australian showcases announced in Austin

The annual convergence festival that takes over downtown Austin, Texas, is back for another year, and this year, it is going to be impossible not to feel the presence of Australia at South by Southwest.

32 Australian artists will be featured in showcases and pop-ups around the Texas capital.

South by Southwest is a one-of-a-kind event that takes place over nine days. Attendees of the festival can find the greatest up-and-coming artists playing in bars, restaurants, theaters, and even churches.

One of the annual highlights of the festival is the Australia House at 77 Rainey Street, produced by Sounds Australia and presented by the American Australian Association. On the 14th and 15th of March, the Australia House at 77 Rainey St will play host to two days of sets on two different stages.

Thursday features headline sets by Girl & Girl on the Back Yard Stage, while Miss Kaninna headlines the Front Yard Stage. The Back Yard stage features Flewnt & Inkabee, Anna Smyrk, Keenan Te, William Singe, Jess Cornelius, The Belair Lip Bombs, dust, breathe., and HighSchool.  The Front Yard stage also includes Georgia Maq, Jamie-Lee Dimes, Mia June, Emily Barker, Alexander Briggs, and Sui Zhen.

Friday’s headliner on the Back Yard stage for the BIGSOUND Brunch Is Sycco while Flewnt & Inkabee take over the headlining duties at the Front Yard Stage. Other artists on the Back Yard Stage are Alexander Briggs, Bones and Jones, Asha Jefferies, Carla Geneve, Forest Claudette, Folk Bitch Trio.

Other Australian artists playing other showcases around Austin include 1300, The Heart Collectors, and Zheani.
