A lab technician for Shelby County Community Corrections is facing two felony ethics charges.

Adrian Travarius Davis, 37, of Clanton, is charged with two counts of bribery as a public servant.

According to charging documents, Davis on two different occasions accepted cash to provide a clean urine sample for participants in Shelby County’s Drug Court.

Offenders in the Drug Court program are granted deferred prosecution while they participate in the intensive, multi-step program which includes periodic drug testing.

Investigators said the director of the Shelby County Community Corrections notified sheriff’s authorities that an employee – later identified as Davis – was soliciting bribes from drug court participants.

An examination of Davis’s cell phone turned up evidence that he was offering clean urine samples in exchange for cash.

The two incidents for which he is charged took place in August and October of 2023.

Davis was booked into the Shelby County Jail Friday and released after posting $30,000 bond.
