IOWA CITY — Iowa basketball guard Tony Perkins has entered the transfer portal, the school confirmed on Tuesday.

Over four seasons at Iowa, Perkins accumulated 1,175 points, 398 rebounds and 321 assists. Perkins made the NCAA Tournament in three of his four seasons at Iowa. He was also a part of the Hawkeyes' Big Ten Tournament title team in 2022.

Perkins put up some of his best numbers during the 2023-24 season when he was named to the All-Big Ten second team by the league's coaches. Perkins averaged career-highs in points (14), rebounds (4.4), assists (4.6) and steals (1.6) per game.

Perkins has the opportunity to return to college basketball for the 2024-25 campaign because of the extra eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Perkins is the second Hawkeye to hit the transfer portal as of late. Dasonte Bowen, who missed the later stages of last season due to a knee injury, also entered the transfer portal. That makes the depth of Iowa's backcourt a little more uncertain for the 2024-25 season.

Iowa's young foundation includes point guard Brock Harding, who may be in line for a larger role next season. Harding averaged 3.4 points and 2.6 assists per game as a freshman.
