Mark you calendars and get your tickets (although quite a few shows are free) — the sounds of summer are heading this way.

Sure as the days get longer and warmer, concert season is upon us.

The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra will offer a free concert at 7 p.m. June 29 at Fort Ligonier, followed at 7 p.m. June 30 in St. Clair Park by its annual concert of classics, patriotic favorites and pops in the park.

A free summer philharmonic concert will be held 8 p.m. July 17 at Seton Hill Performing Arts Center.

The symphony will once again have a summer chamber music series at Unity Chapel in Latrobe. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and general admission at the door is $10, benefiting the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

This year’s Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival will be held June 20-23 at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

The series kicks off with Patti LaBelle on June 21.

Westmoreland Cultural Trust TGIS

Thursdays at The Palace Theatre’s S&T Bank Courtyard and Megan’s Suite, this free 14-week Thank Goodness It’s Summer concert series will feature 14 bands, refreshing cocktails and dining options through Sept. 5 (excluding July 4).

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with live music from 6-9 p.m. Food vendors include Sun Dawg Café, Caffe Barista, Elegant Catering, Miss Meatball and Major Stokes. Local community partners will guest bar tend and compete for the title of 2019 TGIS Bartender Challenge Winner.
