A Shelby County teacher is facing multiple felony drug charges following a weekend arrest in Pelham.

Kyle Edward Vincent, 46, is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Vincent is a special education teacher at Calera Middle School, according to the school’s website. Shelby County Schools spokeswoman Cindy Warner said Vincent has been placed on administrative leave.

Vincent was arrested by Pelham police Sunday on Interstate 65. Additional details were not immediately available.

According to charging documents, Vince was in possession of Adderall, Lortab, mushrooms, and ecstasy.

The criminal affidavit states that Vincent was in possession of the drugs by “fraud, deceit, misrepresentation or subterfuge or by the alteration of a prescription or written order or by the concealment of a material fact or by the use of false name or giving a false address.”

Vincent was booked into the Shelby County Jail Sunday and released Wednesday after posting $20,000 bond.

Court documents do not yet list an attorney to comment on his behalf.
