FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Firefighters made quick work of a fire that broke out Friday morning at a multi-family home on Montaup Street.

Fall River District Fire Chief Jason Poissant said crews arrived on scene around 10 a.m. and saw smoke coming from the first floor.

The fire started in the kitchen, and crews were able to extinguish the flames in less than 10 minutes, according to Poissant.

Poissant said one firefighter suffered a small burn, but didn’t need treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The residents of the first-floor unit will be displaced.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
