P&O Cruises Launches New Scandinavia Itineraries For 2024

Following

British cruise line P&O Cruises has announced a new series of Scandinavia and Baltic Sea itineraries for the summer and fall of 2024. The selection of 14-day and 16-day cruise vacations on the Arcadia, Aurora and Britannia will feature port calls at Nordic and Baltic capital cities and locations with important Viking history.

A typical Scandinavia and Baltic Sea itinerary includes stops at Kiel, Helsinki, Tallinn, Visby and Copenhagen, starting at £1,299 (approx. $1,430) per person based on two adults sharing a cabin.

A longer itinerary to Iceland and Norway taking in Belfast, Stornoway, Reykjavik, Isafjordur, Akureyri, Ålesund and Skjolden starts from £1,649 (approx. $1,820) per person.

Historic experiences in Visby

Visby in particular is sure to be a popular stop with travelers looking to delve into the history of Northern Europe. The largest town on the Swedish vacation island of Gotland, Visby is a must for fans of the Viking Age and Middle Ages.

Today protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the walled historic town was once of the most influential towns in the region. It’s believed to have been inhabited as far back as the Stone Age.

Overnight in modern Nordic cities

Overnight stops in Nordic capitals Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki are included on selected itineraries, which offers visitors much more time to experience modern Nordic lifestyle.

Optional excursions include exploring the many waterways of Stockholm in a glass-topped sightseeing boat and a trip to family-friendly Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

What are P&O Cruises like?

While the P&O Ferries brand is synonymous with car ferries from the U.K. to France and the Netherlands, P&O Cruises has been owned by Carnival for more than 20 years and has since become Britain’s biggest cruise line from its base in Southampton.

While there aren’t water slides, ice rinks and other eye-catching facilities of bigger cruise lines, P&O Cruises’ ships do offer excellent dining and entertainment options, especially geared towards families.

That being said, the Arcadia and Aurora are P&O Cruises’ two adult-only ships, guaranteeing a more relaxed experience in and around Scandinavia. Families needn’t miss out though, as the Britannia—home to half the newly-announced itineraries—welcomes children.
