Learn about eclipses with the Sky Guy

DOVER — Dover Public Library on Monday, April 1 at 6 p.m. will host “The Sky Guy Talks Eclipses!” The event is in-person with the option to stream live from home. If you wish to watch virtually, sign up is needed to receive a link and can be found on the library’s website. This event is free and open to the public. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Discussion

BERWICK, Maine — Berwick for a Lifetime will host a Lunch and Learn at the Berwick Public Library on Tuesday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. This program will be led by Linda Bresnahan, a dementia care practitioner, who will be discussing Alzheimer's, dementia, and effective communication strategies. Advanced marine navigationcourse

PORTSMOUTH — America’s Boating Club is holding an Advanced Marine Navigation course. The course is 10 weeks, Wednesdays, April 3 to June 12, at 7 p.m. and requires a basic navigation course as prerequisite. Classes held at Portsmouth High School, limited to 10 students. Cost is $170 and includes a year’s ABC membership. Under 18 is $120, and ABC member price is $100. Register at usps.org/portsmouth.

Don't Be Blinded by the Light: Eclipse Watching Safety

PORTSMOUTH — Come to the Portsmouth Public Library on Wednesday, April 3, at 6 p.m., and learn all about the beautiful phenomenon of eclipses. We will discuss the science behind lunar and solar eclipses, how to view eclipses safely, and where & when to watch on April 8. Registration is required at cityofportsmouth.com. Each individual or family who attends will receive a free pair of eclipse glasses.

Paint-Off!

DOVER — Saturday, April 6 at 2 p.m. come to the Dover Public Library and switch off canvases with a partner to create a masterpiece. Everyone will be paired off with a rival/buddy. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring some of your own paints, markers, brushes, etc. to spice things up. This program is for adults and teens. Registration required, library.dover.nh.gov.

Eclipse Viewing Party

DOVER — Come to the Dover Public Library to share in the wonder of the solar eclipse with a viewing party on Monday, April 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the library’s front lawn. The all-ages event will feature activities to do as we wait for the sun to be overshadowed by the moon. Refreshments will be served. Since Dover’s view is not of a total eclipse, glasses must be worn the entire time when viewing the sun. Free eclipse glasses are being handed out on Wednesday nights from 5 to 8 p.m. at the library. Eclipse watch party

PORTSMOUTH — People of all ages are welcome to join us on Monday, April 8 at the Portsmouth Pubic Library to watch the solar eclipse. We will kick things off at 1 p.m. with eclipse activities, food, and trivia. At 3:30 p.m. the eclipse should be in totality, starting at 3 p.m. we will gather outside on the library's lawn to watch the eclipse. Registration is not required.
