Judith Ann (Conlan) Braga OBITUARY

Judith was born in Oakland, CA. She moved with her family to Gustine, CA when she was an infant, and from there the family moved to San Francisco, CA. Judith resided in San Francisco, CA until the age of twenty-three, moving to Castro Valley, CA after having married and that is where she raised her family. She remained in Castro Valley, CA until her death. Judith passed away at her home on March 08, 2024 after many years of courageously battling various health factors. She is survived by her brother, Father Timothy Conlan, OP, son Kevin Braga, daughter Wendy Braga, and several cousins. Her daughter Leslie Braga passed away in 2014. Judith attended St. James Elementary School and St. Rose Academy in San Francisco, CA. She sought out further education after high school, having graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in education and California State University, Hayward with a Master’s Degree in education. She held various positions within the educational system and very much enjoyed being an educator. In her early years as an educator Judith taught within the General Education Program, and then later after obtaining her Master’s Degree taught within the Special Education Program. She too oversaw a summer youth employment program for many years, working that job along with her full-time teaching job. She was an extremely hard worker and dedicated to her profession. Outside of her employment, Judith enjoyed gardening, home projects, and making home d‚cor crafts which she sold at craft fairs, boutiques, and in a local craft store. She too liked to travel when the opportunity arose, spend time with family and friends, play bingo, and take an occasional trip to the casino to play the slot machines. Personally, she had an incredibly giving spirit and self-sacrificing nature. Her caring demeanor, kindness, supportive character, and thoughtfulness were very much appreciated by those around her. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched, particularly her children who feel blessed to have had her as a mother. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church on March 18, 2024 at 11:00a.m. Those wishing to honor her memory may make a contribution to a local food bank, community outreach program, or a charity of your choice. If sending flowers, they should be directed to Jess C. Spencer Mortuary and Crematory, located at 21228 Redwood Road Castro Valley, CA 94546.
