Northeast Georgia Health System opens $70M replacement hospital

Gainesville, Ga.-based Northeast Georgia Health System opened its new $69.5 million Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin hospital in Dahlonega, Ga., on April 15.

NGMC Lumpkin was moved from its former location in Dahlonega to the new facility location.

The 66,000-square-foot, single-story facility offers 24/7 emergency care, inpatient care, on-site imaging, lab, pharmacy support, and advanced surgery, according to an April 15 NGHS news release.

Ninety-eight percent of the hospital contruction workers were from Georgia, with 46% of labor coming from the area where the hospital serves.

Northeast Georgia Physicians Group surgeons will begin providing orthopedic surgery at the facility the week of April 15, with additional surgery types like gynecologic and general surgery to expand in the coming months.
