WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — The first-ever Woodstock Pride Weekend set for June 7-9 will feature parades, performances, workshops and more.

A Pride Parade will step off from the Woodstock Comeau Property on Sunday, June 9, at noon and proceed to the Colony Garden. “Everyone is invited to march,” the organizers said.

Artists and guests are to include  DJ Michael V, Stilt Walkers: Zach Glow Job & Jon Joni, Tryst Troupe, Rock Academy, Bunny Michael, Gail Ann Dorsey and B**ch, along with the  Stonewall Inn owners and original bartender, the organizers said.

Other activities scheduled for that day include the Stonewall Inn pop-up event at Pearl Moon Restaurant, from 5-8 p.m. The ticketed fundraiser event will honor the original owners of the historic bar in Greenwich Village in Manhattan where the LGBTQIA+ rights movement began in 1969, a news release said. Proceeds will benefit Stonewall Inn Gives Back (SIGBI), the official charitable giving organization of the historic Stonewall Inn.

Other events include the raising of the Pride Flag on Friday, June 7, to kick off the weekend’s festivities. The organizers said the time and place are to be determined.

Events on Saturday, June 8, are scheduled to include a Tea Dance at Millstream with DJ Karin Ward, from 2-6 p.m. and a screening of the film “Go Fish” followed by a question-and-answer session with writer and director Rose Troche. Both events are ticketed events.

The weekend, sponsored by the new non-profit Woodstock New York Pride, was planned by the Woodstock Pride committee, including Queerly co-founders and partners Aileen Morgan and Megan Ghiroli, an announcement said.

“Woodstock Pride originated as a small, informal gathering of local friends in December 2022, when we committed to coming together again after a beloved local queer-friendly bar R&R closed its doors,” Morgan said. “This year, we’re excited to make it official and bring it to life with the entire community.”

The non-profit said in a press release that its mission is to “amplify voices and promote awareness of the universal human need for everyone, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation, to be seen, respected, accepted, and loved.”

Woodstock New York Pride said it encourages the community to get involved whether it’s with the parade or throughout Pride Month.

The non-profit said it’s encouraging the community to raise awareness through store displays, pride promotions at their business, book talks, film screenings and Pride food items at restaurants and cafes.
