AUSTIN (KXAN) — Members of the public can learn more about the multi-year expansion plans for the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at a community open house later this month.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Montopolis Recreation and Community Center, located at 1200 Montopolis Drive. Airport staff will be available on site to chat about upcoming expansion projects that are part of the Journey With AUS program.

Journey With AUS is a multi-year endeavor to expand on and overhaul the airport. Near-term and longer-term projects included in the program are:

  • New outbound baggage handling system
  • West Gate terminal expansion
  • Enhancements to international arrivals area
  • Addition of Concourse B
  • Relocation of AUS’ central utility plant
  • New air cargo facility site

April 27’s event will include feature live music, food and coffee, a vaccine clinic and family-friendly attractions, per an online notice. Attendees can RSVP online or come and go as they please.
