Bloodanooga returns with Super Mario theme

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The princess might be in another castle, but you can give blood at UTC.

Held by Blood Assurance, the 13th edition of Bloodanooga is one of their largest blood donation drives in their service area.

The blood drive is themed after the video game Super Mario Brothers, as donors can give blood in a makeshift Mushroom Kingdom.

Blood Assurance says that this drive has had over 8,000 donors, which can help give blood up to 24,000 patients.

They look to get at least 300 donors over the two-day event.

Dr. Liz Culler, the CEO of Blood Assurance, said, “People who are in the hospital receiving blood today needed people to donate yesterday. So, we have to be prepared, and we have severe weather season coming up, so we encourage everyone to come out today and donate so we can build up those resources.”

You can be the Super Star and give blood at this event on Tuesday at the University Center from 10 to 6 at UTC.
