San Marcos softball player Addie Sierra voted Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week

San Marcos softball player Addie Sierra, who played key roles in a pair of wins over state-ranked teams in back-to-back games, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for March 25-30.

Sierra pitched a complete-game four-hitter and struck out 12 in a 4-1 win over San Antonio East Central, then came back two nights later to strike out nine and drive in the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 5-4 win over Schertz Clemens. She received 42% of the vote.

Leander soccer player Alicia Aguinaga, Round Rock soccer player Kaiya Bullock, Bowie softball player Valeria Feeney and Cedar Park soccer player Vienna Tran also were candidates. Round Rock softball player Glo Torres won the previous poll for March 18-23.

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
